Nora, 13, from Austin, Texas, talked with Our China Stories about celebrating her 8th birthday in China:

Marilyn Brock

Mother

Blessed with three biological children, Marilyn and her husband always wanted to adopt a child. They were moved by the stories they had read about girls abandoned as a result of the One Child policy. They turned to China. The SARS epidemic postponed their initial travel plans by a year. On Sept. 15, 2003, they met Nora and became a family./span>

e're very delighted with our beautiful and wonderful daughter,Marilyn says. nd it also ever amazes us the miracle of how our family was matched together with this person on the other side of the earth, that she's so perfect for our family.

The family is a non-stop force of energy and Nora, as it happened, was very much the same from the first day they were together. he came to us running and climbing stairs and full of energy and she was just perfect, perfect for our family. I just know that the match was not made in the matching room, but rather that it was made in heaven./span>
